It’s time to look like a master decorator with the aid of a microwave, some parchment, and a single toothpick! Candy bark is sooo easy to make, decorate, and enjoy! Then once you’ve got the recipe down you can make rainbow bark, mermaid bark, or any other combination of colors or themes. The toppings allow little chefs to go nuts with creativity. Best yet is this simple recipe is extremely toddler-friendly for those just getting started in the kitchen.
Sweetheart Bark
Ingredients:
6 oz white chocolate chips
4 oz red candy melts (can be found at Walmart and Michael’s)
Strawberry chips (I buy from Trader Joe’s) or crumbled candy canes
Make It:
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Add your white chocolate to a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until fully melted. Next, add your red candy melts to a microwave-safe bowl and repeat the process of microwaving in 30-second intervals.
Once both candies are melted, pour the white chocolate on your parchment paper and spread into a rectangular shape using a spatula. Use a spoon to drizzle the red in long vertical lines on top. Use a toothpick to make lines side to side horizontally across the bark to create beautiful patterns. Add your topping (strawberry chips or crushed candy canes) while the bark is still soft.
Refrigerate bark for 10 minutes to harden. Once hard, break into large pieces. Enjoy immediately or put in a Tupperware container and store for up to 3 weeks.
